Tennis Elbow in Georgetown ON

Chiropractic Georgetown ON tennis elbow

Suffering from Tennis Elbow in Georgetown ON? Tennis Elbow - or Lateral epicondylitis as it is known clinically - is tendonitis of the extensor muscles on the upper, outer portion of the forearm where they attach to a ridge of bone (the lateral epicondyle) on the outside of the elbow. Interestingly, tennis elbow is much more commonly seen as a result of sudden overuse or repetitive strain, and much less commonly as a result of actually playing tennis or other racquet sports.

Symptoms in Georgetown ON

The extensor muscles of the forearm are involved in extending the wrist and fingers, as well as turning the hand palm up, so any of these movements will cause pain along the outside of the elbow and forearm. To make matters worse, because these same muscles are also involved in gripping movements, simple activities such as turning a doorknob, shaking another person's hand, or even holding a cup of coffee can become incredibly painful if not unbearable.

Treatment

Treatment in our office is directed at preventing further damage to the tissue while reducing inflammation and healing the injury. Over the years, we have had excellent results treating tennis elbow cases with a sports medicine ultrasound protocol combined with electrotherapy. Patients are also given tips on what they can do to prevent aggravating the condition while helping to speed their recovery.
